Me and Marta have been working on some new stuff. A bit more conceptional and towards fashion (what I never really did before). All kind of new to me in the sense that I also have to watch fabric and textures. It is really outside of my comfortzone but I found it challenging and that´s something I really have to force upon myself. I used a big window with natural light blasting in through a sheet to make a huge softbox. The kick-light is a nikon sb-800 with a lumiquest softbox III attached. Postprocess went through silver efex.....Anyway hope you like it or would tell me otherwise with some critics. --V

Flamenco Catwalk
I´ve been at the SIMOF 09, THE Flamenco fashionshow, held in Sevilla together with my dear clients Isabel and Antonio from the magazine BodaNova. They asked me to photograph the catwalk of young Fuengirola designer Melisa Lozano with some cutting edge, rule breaking designs and color patterns. A cool day out, hanging out with them means meeting people, cocktails and of course some great food afterwards.
Melisa invited top-model and ex-Miss España 2006 Elisabeth Reyes and Flamenco singer Diana Navarro amongst the 'regular' models.......damn, I love doing this!

Spa
We went on assignment for the Spanish wedding magazine Bodanova for their Spa article. The model never showed up so my assistant became also the model after the initial setups. All the shots were fired with elinchrome skyport radio triggers

A sb-800 strobe with grid was atached to a bar right opposite the model just above the water, another sb800 next to the camera for ambient light and the third strobe behind the glass wall creating a big hotspot Nikon D700 f2,8/28-70mm. 1/40 f2.8 iso 640

one strobe behind the models (hey that includes me) and the 2nd one for abient light at the other side of the glass wall, Nikon D700 f2,8/80-200mm, 1/40 f2.8 iso 640

in the far right up corner a sb800 for the wall and some ambient, 2nd sb800 with grid for the models face. Camera left a 3rd one for ambient, Nikon D700 f2,8/80-200mm, 1/60 f2.8 iso 400

A sb800 low aimed at her legs and a second one on the right for ambient, the sunlight backlit everything for separation and ilumination of the water, Nikon D700 f2,8/80-200mm 1/60 f2.8 iso400

just one sb-800 pointed up at the ceiling for ambient non-directional light
Just with my really old f1.8/50mm out of hand, 1/40 f1.8 iso 400

Miljonair Magazine
Together with journalist Jeroen van der Weijden I did this article about Marbella for the Dutch magazine Miljonair. A lot of variety in images. It turned out well imo, but would have liked to see the pictures a lot larger....

Quidam; Cirque du Soleil
If theres magic in this world, then for sure Cirque du Soleil is part of it!! Quidam is the 2nd show I photographed while they were on tour visiting Malaga. Its almost a shame I have to photograph because you do miss a lot while shooting. No flashes are allowed so its artistic photography you have to focus on......

Mario Blanca

Together with my lovely assistant Marta Guillen we went for a portrait session in June to one of Malaga's top wedding fashion designers Mario Blanca for the Spanish magazine BodaNova.
We did not have much time, 6 shots in 3 hours. Having totaly embraced the light strobist way I left my bigger monoheads at the studio and just took 2 sb-800 and marta's metz, all filtered with 1/2 cto. With the dress we put a sb800 in the room behind it to give it some glow, triggered with skyports (SP), and 1 sb800 coming from camera left with a shoot through umbrella (stu). Having always worked with reflection umbrellas, i forgot to stupidly turn the umbrella around and kept wondering for half an hour about the lack of power any way I managed I got my head around it during lunchtime. After some more shots we ended up with Mario in his office. He wanted a happy picture and not the regular designer at the drawing board. The idea came up to put him behind a stack of thread-rolls. Keylight is coming from the right with a stu and 1/2 cto, fill is on the left
