How beautiful the sky is in Andalucia after the summer heat of August. In September it starts already, but October is the best imo. Last week was so clear you could see the Riff mountains in Africa over the Mediterranean from my window....such a nice place to live

Some new stuff
Me and Marta have been working on some new stuff. A bit more conceptional and towards fashion (what I never really did before). All kind of new to me in the sense that I also have to watch fabric and textures. It is really outside of my comfortzone but I found it challenging and that´s something I really have to force upon myself. I used a big window with natural light blasting in through a sheet to make a huge softbox. The kick-light is a nikon sb-800 with a lumiquest softbox III attached. Postprocess went through silver efex.....Anyway hope you like it or would tell me otherwise with some critics. --V

Dry Martina
Being on the road lately for a travelguide, got me a legit reason to go party-while-shooting or shoot-while-partying (luv those assignments), which I fully did of course. Being a sucker for (live) jazz music, its one thing I truly miss down here in Spain. I grew up with the annual North Sea Jazz Festival in my native city. Anyway after getting comfortable (aka a few beers) I went into this nice bar in oldtown Marbella, while just having a blast portraing people this spanish trio on stage started to play. Simple setup: vocals, amplified acoustic guitar and a slidetrombone..............wow some good old Kansas City style jazz filled the room. That girl could sing and tha boys could play!! 2 sets of absolute fun. Could not help myself photographing them.....

family weekend pics
We went to visit my wife Judiths sister Teresa at a beach about an hour away from here. Her family in law owns a house there practically on the beach. So good fun swimming, scuba diving, BBQ and a few beers and most of all having fun with my brother in law Manolo by picturing stuff ...
All shot with my D700 and a 1.8/50mm and two sb/800 strobes

Bjorn Again on San Roque Golf Club

Last Friday I went to San Roque (near Algeciras) to photograph Bjorn Again. Great musicians (and look-a-likes) performing all the ABBA songs. What a pleasure to photograph (also a good chance to put the Nikon D700 to the test....yes it happily made the test!!). Great music, the musicians had a lot of fun and not to mention the audience!!! Big big party
They put up the stage on the shooting range of San Roque Golf & Country Club so plenty of room on the field and they converted the shooting building into the VIP and media area. Very well organized. I was not allowed to put any strobes on stage so I had to use the available light. I put my camera on 'automatic ISO' with a minimum of 1/60th shutterspeed and a max of 3200 ISO
This works excellent in this mode the camera searches for the best ISO value with a 60th shutterspeed. I include a few photos

nikon d700
Yesterday afternoon I received my new toy!!! the Nikon D700 traditional frame. probably the first one in Spain via Robert White photographics in the UK. Great service this company. All through internet....fast and reliable.
What a beauty this camera!! been playing a bit with it but can´t freakin put them through lightroom, have to buy 2.0 i am afraid.
Photoshop opens them with no probs. Love being back at the normal point of view. I am able to also attach all my old non af prime lenses and program the cam so it recognizes them.
I used for the last 3 years the fujipix S3 pro, it is really old and beatup. Did me a great job all this time, but the slowness killed me.
The flash of the d700 I use now as a commander to fire my sb-800s
The D700 is sooooo fast and easy to use
Have to play some more, soon I ´ll upload some results

my first words....

Well, just starting my blog. I will try to update as much as possible and to explain as much as possible about what i do and what i use in terms of photography. Lots and lots of info I get from the great blogs of David Hobby at strobist.blogspot.com, The very inspiring David Tejada at davidtejada.blogspot.com. I follow their blogs all the time and it opened up a new view for me of using small lights in an off-camera mode. It also saved my back 'cause I travel a lot lighter nowadays :-).
Totally against my nature I post a photograph of myself so at least you know with whom you are dealing :-P. Its a self portrait with 1 nikon sb-800 speedlight with blue gel through though spun for the background and 1 sb-800 through a shoot through umbrella as the keylight
please feel free to comment and to ad stuff
Cheers Vincent
